The Mets hired a moving company for Lucas Duda, now some of his stuff is missing

The New York Mets hired a moving company to help first baseman Lucas Duda change apartments during one of the team's recent road trips. Seems like a decent idea, right? All the work gets done while Duda is away from New York. He can focus on baseball and not moving. What could go wrong?

We're talking about the Mets here, so something was bound to go wrong.

Duda, 28, arrived at his new place on April 17 after a nine-game road trip and found the door open and some of his possessions missing, according to a story from the New York Daily News. Duda filed a police report and says he's missing $1,600 worth of property, including his checkbook, two jackets, a bracelet and a "knock-off Breitling watch."

Instinct might be to laugh at the bootleg watch, but give Duda props for being honest. He could have claimed it was real, right? Duda is making $1.6 million this season, so he can certainly go out and buy a new jacket, but you can't easily replace piece of mind.

It's unclear who's to blame exactly, though we'll probably find out eventually. Maybe the moving company was shady. That's happened before. Maybe someone simply broke in and swiped what they could of Duda's stuff while he was gone.

Ultimately, though, we figure people will shake their heads and blame the Mets because New Yorkers are used to doing that.
