The injury Yan Gomes suffered is every dude's worst nightmare

Baseball fans will be forever divided on issues such as bat flips, bean balls and the DH, but if there's one thing that can unite us, it's this: It's never good to see a player taking a baseball to his body's most sensitive region.

Unfortunately, it's become baseball's most painful trend recently. Baltimore Orioles catcher Caleb Joseph suffered a testicle injury last week that required postgame surgery after taking a foul tip to the groin. Then Tuesday night, a foul tip nailed Cleveland Indians catcher Yan Gomes right in the baby-maker.

All you need to do is watch Gomes' reaction in the video above to know what kind of pain he was in.

Gomes left the game and was diagnosed with — brace yourself, gents — a testicular bruise. He was taken to a Seattle hospital for an ultrasound, the results of which weren't made public Tuesday night.

Indians manager Terry Francona did, however, offer this very astute observation to reporters:

"I don’t think he's probably having the best night of his life."

That sounds like a safe bet. Dudes everywhere are rooting for you, Yan Gomes.
