The five longest homers of August, once again led by Giancarlo Stanton (Videos)

Miami Marlins super slugger Giancarlo Stanton somehow doesn't have the longest home run of 2014, but he has hit the longest homer of the month for the third time this season. That counts for something.

Since it's now September — already?! — we're doing our monthly look-back at MLB's most mammoth homers. August belonged to Stanton, after he hit a 470-foot bomb to left field on Aug. 11. Overall, it's the sixth longest homer of the year.

Mike Trout's 489-foot homer from June 27 still leads baseball, but Stanton has won the months of April, July and now August. Paul Goldschmidt had the biggest homer of May. Stanton has three of the 10 longest homers this season, and five of the top 20. He's like a homer hoarder.

Now let's have a look at the top five from August. All the data comes from Hit Tracker Online's True Distance list.

1. GIANCARLO STANTON — 470 FEET (AUG. 11)
A ridiculous display of power from Stanton.

2. OSWALDO ARCIA — 468 FEET (AUG. 3)
The 23-year-old's first appearance on our top homers list.

3. ANTHONY RIZZO — 466 FEET (AUG. 19)
This one landed out on Sheffield Avenue outside Wrigley Field.

4. ALEX GORDON — 462 FEET (AUG. 31)
Gordon doubled his homer output in August — from nine to 18. But this one, his last of the month, was the longest.

5. NATE FREIMAN — 459 FEET (AUG. 17)
Freiman, who is 6-foot-7, is nearly as big as this homer.
