Rangers' Twitter account seems to call for firing of Texas coach Charlie Strong

Well, this probably isn't what the person manning the Texas Rangers Twitter account meant to have happen.

As the Rangers were attempting to clinch the AL West title against the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday afternoon, a tweet was sent out seemingly calling for the firing of Texas football coach Charlie Strong.

Or at least that's how many fans took the tweet.

Not surprisingly, the original tweet was almost immediately deleted, but not before several people were able to screencap it and repost it.

Nothing — and we do mean nothing — gets by the internet.

Of course, the sentiment expressed in the tweet could be found everywhere on the internet on Saturday. Even before the Longhorns were embarrassed 50-7 by TCU, fans were calling for Strong to be fired. That outrage will only grow based on Saturday's result, but this isn't a battle the Rangers organization would want to be involved in, regardless of how much support their opinion would garner.

We're guessing it was just an honest mistake. One where a personal opinion perhaps meant for a personal Twitter account accidentally spilled into a work account followed by 670,000 people. But it certainly had people talking, and wondering, whether or not Strong had any supporters left in Texas.

Update: The Rangers work quick. The staff member behind the tweet has been relieved of their duties per a team press release.
