Prankster Jacob deGrom startles Daniel Murphy during postgame interview

Jacob deGrom made an incredible postseason debut on Friday, striking out 13 Los Angeles Dodgers in the Mets 3-1 NLDS Game 1 victory. That means deGrom to some degree fooled 13 batters throughout the course of his seven sparkling innings.

His opponent, Clayton Kershaw, struck out 11 in the game, so deGrom wasn't alone when it came to fooling hitters. But deGrom also didn't stop fooling them even after the game ended.

In fact, during the postgame press conference, deGrom fooled the one Met who made the biggest mark on Kershaw's outing. That would be Daniel Murphy, who during the fourth inning literally branded a Kershaw fastball for a home run. As Murphy was answering a question, perhaps about that home run, deGrom reached over and lowered Murphy's chair, scaring the you-know-what right out of his teammate.

The reactions here are priceless.

On one side, deGrom is quite pleased by his evil doings. On the other side, Murphy is pretty sure he's hitting the floor. Then he's happy to not be on the floor. Then it looks as though he may want to put deGrom in an armbar submission, before realizing that would be bad for the team.

Meanwhile, the rest of us pretty much had deGrom's reaction.

Here's the best part though. The full footage shows us that deGrom's chair actually dropped first.

It's clear that David Wright was responsible for that, but he certainly didn't get the desired reaction from the unflappable deGrom. That led to deGrom getting Murphy, who was the opposite of unflappable. He was completely thrown off his game, and we're concerned he may not recover in time for Saturday.

Actually, he'll be fine. But this was awesome. The Mets are obviously hanging loose and having fun.
