Photos: Pregame scene at the World Series opener

SAN FRANCISCO — Is this heaven? No, it's just AT&T Park, home of the second World Series Game 1 in three seasons. There really isn't any better setting or ballpark in baseball so let's take a quick look at the scene before the San Francisco Giants and Detroit Tigers started playing on Wednesday night.

Fun fact: One of streets that runs parallel to AT&T Park's third base line is named after one of the Stew's contributors, noted Colorado Rockies fan Mark Townsend.

The ballpark's merchandise tents weren't quite stocked for the occasion when they opened.

There are six flagpoles atop the scoreboard, one for each World Series title in franchise history. The orange on the right is for the one won in San Francisco, the rest contain the interlocking N and Y from the team's years at New York's Polo Grounds.
