Paul Konerko’s 400th home run elicits a classic Hawk Harrelson call (VIDEO)
Paul Konerko's solo home run in the ninth inning did more than tie Wednesday's game in Oakland or allow the Chicago White Sox first baseman to become the 48th member of baseball's 400 home run club. It also allowed homeriffic broadcaster Hawk Harrelson to deliver a home run call that would've fit right in during the encore at a Mötorhead concert.
But if Hawk was being Hawk, Paulie was also being Paulie after what ended up being a disappointing 5-4 loss to the A's in 14 innings. The quiet slugger treated the milestone dinger like any of the 393 others he's hit while wearing a White Sox uniform over the past 14 seasons.

''Everybody likes the round numbers,'' Konerko said. ''When it comes to that kind of stuff, I think when I'm done playing and look back, that's when it might hit home more. But when you're in the middle of the grind and you're grinding every day and working, you tend not to think about that stuff, and you probably shouldn't.''
Konerko became the third player to hit No. 400 while wearing a White Sox uniform, joining Frank Thomas and — anyone, anyone? — Andruw Jones. The two active players next in line to join the 400 club are David Ortiz (381) and Adam Dunn (369).
