Ouch! David Wright hits himself in the head with broken bat

The injury everybody is talking about from Wednesday night's Atlanta Braves-New York Mets game is Tim Hudson's gruesome broken ankle, but Mets captain David Wright had a pretty odd potential injury moment too.

In the fourth inning, he grounded a ball to shortstop, but on the follow-through of his swing, Wright's bat broke and clunked him in the head. Surprised by what happened, he didn't even run. It turned out to be a double play.

Wright stayed in the game after it was ruled he didn't have a concussion, according to the New York Daily News. Afterward, he told reporters:

“[It] stunned me for a few seconds but I’ll live.”

Good to hear, he's OK. Because now I won't feel bad watching Wright hit himself in the head over and over on animated loop.

Baseball season's in full swing. Don't miss a thing.
