Matt Moore's dog Griffin participates in 'Cut for a Cure' charity event

It's decided. Baseball needs fewer mascots and more dogs.

Dogs who are friendly adorable, like Hank the Milwaukee Brewers Ballpark Pup. Dogs who are essentially royality, like David Price's bulldog Astro. Dogs who are third generation bat retrievers, like Rookie with the Trenton Thunder. And dogs who are not only man's best friend, but a team player, like Matt Moore's chocolate goldendoodle Griffin.

On Friday, Griffin officially claimed his place among our favorite canines when he sat alongside new Rays manager Kevin Cash, All-Star Evan Longoria and his owner at the Rays' fourth annual Cut for a Cure to benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

A little off the top? No worries, Griffin had plenty to spare. As did the nearly 100 humans that participated in the event, including prospect Ryan Brett. Check out his after photo.

is that a beard that would make WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan envious? Yes!

Should Brett shave it off before reaching the big leagues? No!

We'd call that a pretty solid turn out, though PCF Executive Director Nancy Crane thinks the expectations need to be raised going forward.
