The Juice: Matt Kemp reinjures hamstring in loss, Mariners rampage Rangers for 21 runs

Mattie MRI: Matt Kemp said he'd go 50/50 this season, but right now it seems like those numbers signify his current chances of getting injured on any given night. Playing in just his second game since returning from the DL, the Los Angeles Dodgers star reinjured his left hamstring while rounding third in the first inning of the Dodgers' 6-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday.

Kemp said his hamstring felt worse than when he sustained the original injury that earned him a 15-day break, and the disappointment led him to throw an interesting tantrum that included breaking a bat over his right leg, the presumably healthy one.

Careful, man, there's a first-place team that'll eventually need you back here!

Kemp said he'll hit up the MRI machine on Thursday to assess the damage on his left hamstring. (Although the might want to check out that right twig-snapping knee at the same time after that fit he threw.)

It wasn't a good night for Dodgers superstars overall as starter Clayton Kershaw turned in one of his worst starts of the season. The reigning Cy Young gave up five runs, eight hits and four walks in 5 2/3 innings of work. The Brewers will aim for the four-game sweep at Dodger Stadium on Thursday.

21 trident salute!: What has gotten into the Seattle Mariners? Just one night after posting 10 runs against the Rangers, the M's scored 21 runs — the most of any team in any game this season — in a 21-8 triumph over the Texas Rangers at Rangers Ballpark.

Not bad for a team hitting a collective .229, which puts them 13th out of 14 AL teams.

The Mariners did a majority of their damage by posting eight runs in both the second and third innings. Justin Smoak hit two three-run homers to nab a career-high six RBIs while Dustin Ackley added a three-run shot of his own.

Rallying Red Sox: Boston may still sit in last place in the AL East, but it's not as bad as it sounds. The Red Sox have won three straight after a 6-4 win over the Tigers at Fenway Park and sit just 2 1/2 games behind first-place Baltimore. They'll aim for a sweep of Detroit on Thursday night as Josh Beckett faces Max Scherzer.

Three-for-all: Carlos Gonzalez became the fifth player to hit three home runs in a game this season in Colorado's 13-5 victory over Houston. The Rockies star joins Curtis Granderson, Ryan Braun, Josh Hamilton (who had four) and Joey Votto as doers of the deed.

Three facts for the water cooler

• CarGo has been incredible over his last four games, going 10 for 16 with five homers, seven RBIs and six runs scored.

• A 6-5 loss to the Yankees means that the Angels won't match their franchise-record of 19 wins in the month of May. But the Halos still have to be feeling good after using the last 30 days to right themselves after an awful April start to the season.

• A.J. Burnett got the win in Pittsburgh's 2-1 victory over Cincinnati and hasn't allowed an earned run in his last two starts. If you don't count his 12-run implosion against St. Louis at the beginning of the month, his season ERA rests a 1.53. (Counting that disastrous start, though, it's 3.60).
