If there's a singular face that represents all of the New York Mets fandom, it's the face of television and comedy legend Jerry Seinfeld.

When it's gametime, Seinfeld is a fan first, plain and simple. He wears his Mets' heart on his sleeve, investing all of his emotions in their successes and failures, and lays them all out there for the world to see.

With that in mind, the Mets success in 2015 was obviously a high point in Seinfeld's fandom, and we all remember the turning point vividly. It came on July 31, when the Mets acquired outfielder Yoenis Cespedes from the Tigers after a previous deal for Carlos Gomez fell apart. And right there to welcome Cespedes was an overjoyed Jerry Seinfeld, who memorably tweeted “Cespedes for the rest of us,” which is a reference to one of his sitcom's most repeated lines and talked about episodes.

It fit the moment perfectly and captured the new excitement and new hope in a way only Seinfeld could. So it comes as no surprise that when Cespedes agreed to re-sign with the Mets on Friday night, ending a three-month search that at every turn seemed destined to lead him out of New York, Seinfeld was there again to express joy and continue fueling the hope.

Sometimes a single word that doesn't exist can be more effective than 1,000 words that do.

Yoenis Cespedes is back, meaning a Mets team that was almost certain to contend again just based on their pitching, will again be a team to beat in the National League. That's the basis for Seinfeld's excitement, which no doubt radiates all through the entire Mets fanbase. Then Seinfeld tapped into his brilliance again, bringing the Cespedes news full circle.

That tweet is a reference to the Festivus episode and the origin of Festivus, as explained by the Frank Costanza character.

Saturday is a day of celebration for Mets' fans, who for months hoped and sometimes begged for Cespedes' return. And it's fun to see the biggest fan of them all leading the charge.
