Internet produces some good laughs from Bryce Harper's memes mistake

If we could give Washington Nationals slugger and newly crowned National League MVP Bryce Harper one piece of advice going forward, it might be something like this.

Have some fun. You've earned it.

[Nationals MVP Bryce Harper to the haters: "I enjoy getting booed"]

Harper missed a chance to take that approach Thursday night while being interviewed by Scott Van Pelt during ESPN’s “SportsCenter” on the day he was unanimously chosen MVP. Van Pelt closed with what he described as "an idiotic question" when he asked Harper if he would rather be as bald as Van Pelt or never again have a season with double-digit home runs.

“I don’t even want to answer that right now, because I know how many memes are going to be out there of me with a bald head," Harper said pronouncing memes as "memmays." Within minutes of the mistaken pronunciation the memes Harper was hoping to avoid began to appear across the Internet. Here are a few of the best.

You know Harper won't live this down any time soon. He'll be hearing about 'memmays' from the stands in ballparks around the nation for some time to come. Guess it's a small price to pay for being the MVP and a guy who clearly spends more time worrying about baseball than memes.

Then again, Harper might be able to turn this into a positive and maybe even sell some T-shirts. It wouldn't be the first time.
