Heath Bell shows his unique style and personality at charity golf tournament

To the surprise of no one, Heath Bell stole the show at a charity golf tournament at the Whirlwind Golf Club in Chandler, Az on Friday. And as MLB.com confirms, it wasn't for his performance on the course, of course, but the stylish threads he choose to wear for the outing.

Wearing a white, black and pink argyle sweater vest with a short-sleeved pink buttoned-up shirt underneath, Bell reintroduced himself to Arizona. Bell's black pants were short, his argyle socks were pulled high and his small black hat was just large enough to cover his head. He wore white-rimmed sunglasses and brown Vans shoes.

I guess I shouldn't say Bell's appearance failed to shock everybody. For those not completely familiar with his personality, including new Diamondbacks teammate Ian Kennedy, there was a double take followed by piqued curiosity in the new clubhouse character.

"I don't know much about him. I've heard little things about him," Kennedy said. "You can hear things, and they can be completely wrong. I'm curious."

Aren't we all, Mr. Kennedy. Aren't we all.

Of course this isn't the first time Bell has made a grand entrance and unique impression in Arizona. I'm sure everybody remembers the 50 yard dash from the left field bullpen during last year's all-star game that ended with a popup slide just short of the Chase Field pitcher's mound.

A lot has changed since then, including Bell's uniform — twice — but he appears to be the same old fun-loving Heath Bell, just with a renewed mental, physical and even spiritual approach thanks to his experiences in Miami and offseason workouts with an assistant pastor.

"My dad always taught me to learn at least one thing from every single person because it will make you that much better and that much stronger," he said. "I learned a lot. I learned a lot about myself and how to go about things in the good times and the bad times. I think I'm that much stronger physically, mentally and spiritually."

It will be interesting to see how that works out for Bell on the playing field, just as will be interesting to see what he what he does to turn heads at his next public appearance.
