Geddy Lee psyched about Blue Jays

Rock 'n' roll legend and Rush frontman Geddy Lee loves baseball. Few things are closer to his heart. In 2008, he donated his personal collection of 200 autographed baseballs to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City. He also keeps close tabs on his hometown Toronto Blue Jays, as the video from MLB.com demonstrates above.

Lee's observations? He's pretty pumped about the Jays returning to prominence in 2013, and he thinks GM Alex Anthopoulos is like a modern-day Tom Sawyer:

"I think they've done an admirable job of remaking their team. Myself and my buddies back in Toronto have been big fans of Alex Anthopoulos and the job he was doing to rebuild the minor league system and to acquire as many valuable baseball assets as they could. I think he did an incredible job pulling that deal off with the Marlins to get those amazing players, and Melky Cabrera, etc. I think it's going to be the most fun year for a Blue Jans fan since the mid-'90s."

Just getting Geddy Lee to say the words "Melky Cabrera" is awesome by itself. He went on to say that knuckleballing Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey is a "great pitcher and an interesting person." These observations are spot-on — and at least as relevant as anything Tim McCarver ever says. Now, if only Lee would use his influence with the province of Ontario and get them to relax the pit bull ban so left-hander Mark Buehrle can be happy again.
