No. 1 star: Peter Quenneville, Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL)

Quenneville (1G-2A, +2), the overage captain of the Wheaties, and his brother John Quenneville  (1G-1A, +1) sparked the 8-3 victory over the Calgary Hitmen that opened a 3-1 lead in the Eastern Conference final.

Brandon showed off its excellent balance, getting goals from eight players as it moved within a game of reaching the league final. Peter Quenneville contributed assists on goals by Morgan Klimchuk and Nolan Patrick 58 seconds apart in the middle period, when Brandon took over the game. In the third, the Edmonton native closed out the contest by snapping in a sweet feed from fellow overage Eric Roy with 9:33 left to play.

All told, Quenneville has seven goals in the playoffs.

No. 2 star: Stephen Desrocher, Oshawa Generals (OHL)

Desrocher (1G-1A, +1) was in on on two goals from his defence spot during Oshawa's 3-2 road win against North Bay that tied up the OHL's Eastern final 2-2. In the second period, the 19-year-old defenceman unloosed a low, hard slapshot that Los Angeles Kings selection Matt Mistele redirected into the net to tie the game 1-1. The teams were level again in the third when Desrocher took a snapshot that went in off the post for the game-winner.

No. 3 star: Leon Draisaitl, Kelowna Rockets (WHL)

The Edmonton Oilers top pick helped the Rockets regain home-ice advantage with a series-tying 3-2 Game 4 road win against the Portland Winterhawks. Draisaitl (1G-1A), won a pair of faceoffs in the final minute to assuage the pressure on the Rockets after they were penalized for delay of game when Madison Bowey flipped the puck into the stands with 56 seconds left. The faceoff wins helped Kelowna, which got a 40-save effort from goalie Jackson Whistle, escape with the win after Portland put a puck just past the post with 2.9 seconds left and players piled in the goal crease. Draisaitl also scored the first Rockets goal and drew an assist on Tyrell Goulbourne's second-period power-play tally, helping his team win despite the absence of leading goal scorer Rourke Chartier.

Honourable mention: Anthony Chapados, Rimouski Océanic (QMJHL)

Chapados (2G, +1) kept up his newfound offensive flair as the Océanic blanked Val-d'Or 6-0 to complete a semifinal sweep and qualify for the Memorial Cup, since host Quebec is the other finalist. Chapados scored only seven regular-season goals, but the 19-year-old stunned the Foreurs by scoring just 13 seconds into the game. In the second, after Anthony DeLuca got his 10th of the playoffs, Rimouski stayed on the power play when the Foreurs' Jérémie Fraser was whistled for slashing. Fifteen seconds later, Chapados got his fifth of the playoffs and the rout was on.
