Tim Hortons’ Ottawa 67′s official donut baked with Ottawa Senators logo

Mmmmmmmmmm, incorrectly logo'd donut.

As if the Ottawa 67's need any reminder they are presently tenants of the NHL's Ottawa Senators at the Canadian Tire Centre. On Wednesday, an eagle-eyed Buzzing The Net reader noticed that a Tim Hortons in the east end of the nation's capital was selling what purported to be the "official donut" of the Ontario Hockey League team. Only it had the Senators' Centurion crest smack dab in the middle.

The Timmies chain is a big sponsor of the Canadian Hockey League, with many locations selling gift cards that bear a local team's logo. Some other franchises are apparently also baking donuts as a sugary gesture of support. Remember Owen Sound's Attack Donut?

Great promotion for major junior hockey, slightly slipshod execution.

It's an understandable mistake. The 67's and Senators both wear black and red uniforms. The NHL's pop-culture penetration is expotentially broader than the Ontario Hockey League's, so you can see why Timmies could goof.

The other major junior teams based in Canadian NHL cities, the Calgary Hitmen, Edmonton Oil Kings and Vancouver Giants, all have colour schemes that are slightly different from their NHL counterparts.

It is just ironic this occurs while the 67's are playing in the Sens' den, where they had an announced attendance of 1,774 for a home game on Tuesday. They really don't need the reminder, but thank you regardless Lansdowne Park, where their arena is based, is being renovated in order to be ready for the Ottawa Redblacks' first season in the CFL in June 2014.
