Jonathan Drouin’s behind-the-back assist caps Halifax Mooseheads’ first-round sweep

Jonathan Drouin, chances are, could be in his final weeks as a junior player, so there's no need to show restraint when the Halifax Mooseheads star does something awesome on the ice that produces a goal.

Halifax completed its anticipated cakewalk over the young Charlottetown Islanders with an 11-3 win on Thursday, completing a sweep where it had a lopsided 28-8 goal differential. (A less cash-grabby league would probably give its top four seeds a week off and have the fifth through 12th-place finishers play a shorter first round instead of letting 16 teams into the dance, but that is neither here nor there.) Drouin's 13-point gorging included one definitive highlight-reel play, a behind-the-back pass that projected NHL first-rounder Nikolaj Ehlers converted.

That looks like something an average Joe (or Jo, in Quebec) pulls out at the end of a hour of pickup hockey when they're feeling grandiose. Only Drouin, who turns 19 on Friday, did this in a playoff game. When someone has 261 points across his last 114 QMJHL games, counting playoffs, they're pretty confident.
