Despite the Kingston Frontenacs' surprising second-round loss to the Niagara IceDogs, Michael Dal Colle’s season will continue.

Yahoo Canada Sports has confirmed that Dal Colle will join the American Hockey League’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers as they look to clinch a berth in the Calder Cup playoffs.

The 19-year-old, who helped the Oshawa Generals win a Memorial Cup last season, had six goals and 12 assists in nine playoff games with Kingston this spring.

Bridgeport’s magic number to clinch a playoff spot is down to two. The Sound Tigers conclude their regular season with a three-game three night stretch beginning on Friday night at Portland.

Originally the Islanders first-round selection (fifth overall) at the 2014 NHL draft, Dal Colle scored 25 goals and 80 points in 60 regular season games split between the Frontenacs and Generals this season.

Dal Colle signed a three-year, $9.375 million entry-level contract with the Islanders in September 2014.
