No. 1 star: Josh Ho-Sang, Windsor Spitfires (OHL)

Ho-Sang went into beast mode on Sunday, netting two goals and assisting on four more in Windsor’s come-from-behind 6-5 win over the North Bay Battalion.

Ho-Sang didn’t just lead the offence, he was the offence, with a point on every goal the Spits scored. His dozen allowed him to crack the 70-point mark this season in 52 games.

Windsor trailed 4-1 and 5-3 at points in the game, before Ho-Sang flexed his muscles and propelled the Spits to victory, helping them to three unanswered goals in the third to come away with the win.

Four other Spitfires scored in the game, with Brody Vail netting the winner.

The Battalion outshot the Spitfires 48-27, including 19 shots in the third. Dalen Kuchmey stopped 43 shots for the win. Brendan O’Neill took the loss in goal.

Windsor improved to 33-18-2-0 on the year, comfortably in fifth place in the OHL’s Western Conference. They are nine points out of fourth-place London, but a 13-point cushion on sixth-place Saginaw.

North Bay dropped to 28-20-4-2, two points behind Kingston for third in the East.

No. 2 star: Joshua Winquist, Everett Silvertips (WHL)

Winquist factored in on all the ’Tips goals in a 3-2 win over the visiting Spokane Chiefs. He assisted the game’s opening goal, and then scored the game’s tying and winning goals to lead his team to victory.

The three points gives him 76 on the year, tying him with two Kootenay players, Sam Reinhart and Jaedon Descheneau for fourth in WHL scoring. He now has 25 more points than his previous WHL-high of 51. The league’s scoring leader, Spokane’s Mitch Holmberg, was held pointless.

Austin Lotz got the win in net for Everett, steering aside 16 shots, while Garret Hughson took the loss, making 23 saves. The Silvertips improved to 27-21-7-1 on the year, while the Chiefs fell to 32-19-3-2.

No. 3 star: Michael Joly, Rimouski Oceanic (QMJHL)

Joly’s two goals in the third stanza broke a 3-3 deadlock and gave Rimouski the 5-3 victory over the Charlottetown Islanders. He added a goal in the first period for a hat-trick, and 35 goals on the year.

Alexis L’Oiseau assisted all three Joly markers in the win, while Sébastien Sylvestre had a goal and an assist. Philippe Desrosiers got the W with 14 saves in a relief performance, allowing only two goals in three appearances all weekend, including a shutout of Halifax on Saturday. Olivier Tremblay started and gave up three goals on 13 shots to get the hook.

Mason McDonald took the loss, stopping 43 shots. Rimouski maintained their one-point lead on fifth place in the league with 71 points, raising to 32-15-3-4, while Charlottetown fell to 17-33-1-4. They have lost 12 straight games.

Honourable mention: Samuel Hodhod, Blainville-Boisbriand Armada (QMJHL)

Hodhod scored twice and added two assists as the Armada defeated the Saint John Sea Dogs 5-2. Hodhod scored his two goals on only three shots.

Nikitas Jevpalovs scored the winner and added another, as the Armada outshot the Sea Dogs 40-18. Guillaume Beaudoin had two helpers.

Sébastien Auger took the loss for Saint John, making 35 saves, while Étienne Marcoux stopped 16 shots for the win.

Honourable mention: the entire Val-d’Or Foreurs (QMJHL)

The Foreurs demolished Chicoutimi to the tune of 12-3 on Sunday, and eight players had three points or more, so we can’t give the mention away to one player.

Instead, here are the players who had three or more points: Louick Marcotte (2G, 4A), Anthony Mantha (2G, 3A), Samuel Henley (2G, 2A), Randy Gazzola (1G, 3A), Guillaume Gélinas (4A), Nicolas Aubé-Kubel (2G, 1A), Anthony Beauregard (1G, 2A) and Anthony Richard (3A).

Domenic Graham took it on the chin for the Sags, giving up 10 goals and making 17 saves in two periods of work.
