Erie Otters’ Connor McDavid scores sick one-handed goal (VIDEO)

Amazing: Connor McDavid can finish breakaways when he has a regular shift.

Sorry, couldn't resist after what happened vs. the Czech Republic.

On the eve of his 17th birthday, McDavid indulged in a little points feast on Sunday, getting five during the Erie Otters' 9-0 wipeout of the Windsor Spitfires. The projected top pick in the 2015 NHL draft put the cherry on a Sunday shellacking by doing the Peter Forsberg/Pavel Datsyuk shootout move, albeit in game action instead of on a penalty shot.

That was part of a five-point day for McDavid as Erie went off. Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Connor Brown getting six points to increase his OHL-best total to 88, while recent Vancouver Canucks prospect Dane Fox hit the 50-goal milestone in just his 43rd game of the season.

It's wild, although one will see if any reactionaries give McDavid flak for doing that when the score was 8-0. But as David Letterman once said, there is no off position on the genius switch.
