Edmonton Oil Kings channel Bruce Springsteen, Justin Bieber in Christmas video

When it comes to holiday cheer, the Edmonton Oil Kings bring the party with them. Assuming your Christmas party includes Justin Bieber lip dubs.

Last season, the WHL team produced a video of the players rocking out to the Mariah Carey-Bieber cover of All I Want For Christmas, which got a pretty wide airing. So when the rival Calgary Hitmen put out a competing cover, it was only a matter of time before there was a response out of Northern Alberta. It's kind of the like the East Coast/West Coast dynamic in hip-hop.

Anyway, last night the Oil Kings, in what will be sacrilege to both pop megastars' respective fanbases, issued their Santa Claus Is Coming To Town medley. Brace for a record-scratch moment when it switches from The Boss to The Biebs, though.

Highlights include:

— 0:30: Defenceman David Musil burying his mouth in his chin, ostensibly not to laugh as right wing Klarc Wilson assures him that yes, Santa Claus is coming to town.

— 0:35: Forward Mitch Moroz's 'O RLY' expression.

— 1:52: NHL draft prospect Curtis Lazar — hey, he's left-handed! — trying to write on magic marker on defenceman Cody Corbett's ear.

— 2:40: Is that unidentified player doing his version of The Robot cross-country skiing?

The star of the show is Wilson, who was also front and centre in the Oil Kings' 2011 video.

All the sophomore effort is missing from the original is Oil Kings goalie Laurent Brossoit wearing antlers. Now that he is trying to make Team Canada, he might be too old for it. But you're never too old for Christmas spirit.
