California WR pulls down unbelievable one-handed grab for acrobatic touchdown

On Friday, the Otay Ranch (Calif.) High football team upset the San Diego (Calif.) St. Augustine High Saints, 29-20. While the final scoreline may be a memorable one for Otay Ranch, the play of the game -- and possibly the weekend at any level -- was turned in by a St. Augustine receiver.

The player pulling in the grab you see above is St. Augustine wideout Ethans Sanchez, who somehow found a way to fend off a blanketing Otay Ranch defensive back and pull in an acrobatic one-handed grab of a lofted pass from St. Augustine quarterback Thomas Goodridge.

The pass was good, but the catch was out of this world.

How Sanchez managed to pull in a ball with a single fully outstretched hand when his other arm was completely wrapped up is a true mystery. In fact, Not only was Sanchez completely blanketed on the play, he brought the ball in while falling to his knees after losing his balance trying to escape from the Otay Ranch defensive back that was all over him.

As great as Sanchez's catch was -- and as pivotal a role as it played in keeping St. Augustine in the game -- Otay Ranch still proved too tough to catch, in part because of an early injury to St. Augustine star running back Tyler Herburger, who suffered a broken leg in the first quarter.

As much as that injury and the loss may have hurt, at least St. Augustine fans will have one pretty incredible catch to look back on in the weeks and years ahead.
