Updates on your injured RBs, beginning with lousy news on S-Jax

So yeah, Week 2 was kind of a mess. Many of us are staring at waiver wires today, knowing we may need to replace two or more damaged fantasy starters. On a couple of my rosters, Darren McFadden is currently my healthiest back. That hardly seems ideal.

And, again, I'm not alone. Week 2 was a bloodbath. Let's sweep the league for updates on all your broken RB1s...

Steven Jackson (thigh) – The early word on S-Jax, via NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, is that he could miss 2-4 weeks. Brutal news. Atlanta travels to Miami in Week 3, then hosts the Pats and Jets before a Week 6 bye. Jacquizz Rodgers becomes a fair add in PPR formats, but you shouldn't expect big things from him on the ground. I've got him penciled in for 12 carries and 35 yards against the Dolphins. Jason Snelling seems like the better bet to find the end zone; if I'm gonna bid on a Falcons back, he's the guy.

Ray Rice (hip) – Ray suffered a non-contact hip injury on Sunday, leading to widespread fantasy panic. But the Ravens have since calmed us all down; Rice wasn't even sent for an MRI. For now, he's considered day-to-day. He's not expected to practice mid-week, but he can't be ruled out for Week 3, when Baltimore hosts the Texans. Rice will get a rankings downgrade, while Bernard Pierce gets a bump (despite the tricky match-up).

Maurice Jones-Drew (ankle) – Jacksonville is referring to MJD's injury as a tendon strain, and apparently the team is optimistic about his chances to play in the upcoming double-digit loss to Seattle. Here's Jaguars head coach Gus Bradley...

“We’ll know a little more Wednesday, but on all accounts it looks pretty good,” Bradley said. “I know he felt good this morning, so that’s a positive sign. … It’s a tendon strain, so good news for us.”

Even if he were fully operational, Jones-Drew would be a dicey start on the road against the Seahawks. Preseason star Jordan Todman backs him up. But you can surely do better.

Eddie Lacy (concussion) – First of all, Brandon Meriweather should be suspended for a long, long time. He was pretty clearly seeking helmet-to-helmet contact with Lacy, and he has a deep history of cheap shots. Of course Meriweather eventually concussed himself in the loss to Green Bay, so perhaps a suspension wouldn't really punish his team in any meaningful way.

In any case, Lacy now needs to navigate the league's concussion protocol, so you can't necessarily expect him to play in Week 3. The Packers then get a bye in Week 4. James Starks is the appropriate pick-up here, if you're looking for Lacy's handcuff. Nobody ever added Starks with enthusiasm (at least not since 2010), but he's coming off great afternoon against Washington's horrid defense. This week, the challenge is a bit greater (at Cin); you can't expect another 100-plus.

Reggie Bush (knee) – Reggie has only played two games for the Lions, and he's already suffered three injuries (thumb, groin, knee). Bush reportedly avoided any significant damage in his knee, which is obviously great news. Still, you need to formulate a Plan B for the short term. Joique Bell should be a solid play in this week's match-up with Washington, regardless of Reggie's status.
