Daily Dime: Going with R.A. Dickey, Bryce Harper and some bargains

Here are 10 DFS recommendations for Wednesday’s slate on Yahoo but be sure to double-check the weather and lineups before first pitch approaches.

R.A. Dickey, SP, vs. Phi (Williams), $41: He’s been mostly a mess since winning the CY Young and joining Toronto, but Dickey has allowed three runs or fewer in nine of his past 10 starts. Moreover, the Blue Jays are a whopping -245 favorite while at home against a Phillies team with the worst record in baseball starting Jerome Williams, who has an 8.05 ERA on the road this season and will be facing a Toronto offense that’s scored 72 more runs than any other team in baseball this year.

Doug Fister, SP, at Mia (Koehler), $36: Fister’s lack of strikeouts have seemingly caught up to him this year after he posted a 2.41 ERA and 1.08 WHIP last season despite a 5.38 K/9 rate. But he’ll be facing a Marlins team that has an MLB-low .661 OPS when facing right-handed pitchers this season (and Giancarlo Stanton will obviously be out of the lineup). Fister is the fifth cheapest pitcher among Wednesday’s slate.

Brian McCann, C, at Tex (Lewis), $16: It’s preferable to use McCann at home, and he’s slumped since the All-Star break, but he sat out Tuesday, so the catcher should be in Wednesday’s lineup. He’ll be facing a righty who’s susceptible to homers whom he has a good track record against (albeit in a small sample) and in a pretty good hitter’s park.

Anthony Rizzo, 1B, vs. Col (Butler), $17: He’s been the No. 37 fantasy hitter this year despite slumping in July, when he has a .633 OPS over 78 at bats. Rizzo has 16 homers on the year, and 14 of them have come against RHP, and Eddie Butler has allowed a .333 BAA and an ugly 2.08 WHIP when facing lefties this season.

Kolten Wong, 2B, vs. Cin (Desclafani), $16: He has 10 homers, five steals and an .836 OPS versus RHP this year (which would be the third highest among all second basemen on the year), and he’s now batting leadoff.

Josh Donaldson, 3B, vs. Phi (Williams), $19: It’s better to spend the money on Donaldson when facing a southpaw, but he does have 18 homers and three steals against RHP and owns a .340/.380/.660 line at home this season. As mentioned above, Jerome Williams hasn’t exactly been stellar while on the road (.341 BAA and a 1.87 WHIP).

Asdrubal Cabrera, SS, vs. Det (Verlander), $8: He went 3-for-4 with three runs scored during his return from the DL on Tuesday, and he’s super cheap at a position without any obvious plays to spend money.

Nelson Cruz, OF, vs. Ari (Corbin), $19: He still owns a .378/.452/.707 line against lefties this year. For some reference, Michael Conforto is more expensive, while Adam Eaton is $1 cheaper.

Andre Ethier, OF, vs. Oak (Chavez), $7: He’s slowed down, but he’s now the cheapest priced outfielder while posting a still solid .837 OPS against RHP this season. He also possesses a .315/.411/.508 line at home.

Bryce Harper, OF, at Mia (Koehler), $21: He has a .333/.467/.699 line with 22 homers over 216 at bats against right-handed pitchers this season. Harper also owns a career 1.294 OPS against Tom Koehler, albeit in just 18 at bats. He’s been clearly the best offensive player in baseball this season, and this price therefore seems like a bargain.
