Court Report: From bad to worse for Kevin Martin

Kevin Martin hasn't practiced, let alone played, since aggravating his ailing right shoulder on March 11. The lack of noticeable improvement led him to undergo an MRI on Wednesday, which revealed a torn labrum. The team hasn't officially changed his status from day-to-day, but he's now almost two weeks removed from game action and said Thursday "We have some work to do." Martin had posted middling averages in 21 games since February 1 (13.9 points, 39% FG, 89% FT, 1.7 threes, 2.9 assists, 1.9 turnovers, and 0.5 steals.), of course aided by his injury, but there is now a serious question as to whether he's a player worth waiting around for, particularly in h2h leagues. Martin will continue to rehab and is working under an indefinite timetable, and the least likely scenario is a quick recovery with excellent stats immediately upon his return. Courtney Lee remains the primary benefactor of playing time and, through ups and downs, has averaged 13.6 points, 1.9 threes, 4 boards, and 1.4 steals in eight starts thus far. Chandler Parsons' role has also expanded with Martin and Kyle Lowry sidelined - he's averaged 13.8 points on 56-percent shooting, 1.3 threes, 6 boards, 3.8 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.5 blocks in 33 minutes over his past eight games.

Status updates: Derrick Rose did some light work on Friday but is doubtful for Saturday and his timeline remains vague in general .. Tony Parker (hamstring) is out Friday but there have been no indications as of yet that he's dealing with a long-term issue. Gary Neal gets the start .. Tyreke Evans had a big game off the bench on Thursday (29 minutes, 25 points, 5 boards, 3 steals) and when he returns to the starting five is up to him . Nikola Pekovic (ankles) is out Friday .. Rodney Stuckey (toe) is out again Friday, meaning another start for Ben Gordon .. Jerryd Bayless (hip) is out Friday .. Shawn Marion (knee) will return to the starting lineup on Friday .. Jason Thompson thinks his left ankle "should be good" when it comes to playing on Saturday .. Trevor Booker is dealing with plantar fasciitis but, at this point, is not expected to miss any games .. Hawks on Friday: Zaza Pachulia (Achilles) is out, Marvin Williams (hip) will be active .. Anderson Varejao is working towards a return to basketball activities over the next two weeks, meaning his regular season is essentially over .. Brook Lopez's foot is not yet completely healed and he'll need at least two more weeks off. In other words, his season is over .. In the event there were still any doubts: Andrew Bogut is officially out for the season. We've still got nothing definitive regarding Stephen Curry, however .. Boris Diaw has officially signed with the Spurs, where he'll be way down the depth chart.

Scanning the Buzz Index leaders: Gordon Hayward had another good start on Thursday (18 points, 6-11 FG, 6-6 FT, 7 boards, 5 assists, 1 steal, 1 block) and helped the Jazz to their fifth straight win. Expect Tyrone Corbin to stick with what is working after Raja Bell returns from his groin injury .. Danny Green is looking like a fantastic short-term add - he's averaged 17.3 points, 2.7 threes, 4.3 boards, and 1.7 steals over his past three games, Tony Parker's hamstring injury will help his minutes, and the Friday starts a stretch of five games in six days for the Spurs [schedule] .. Mike Dunleavy's minutes have taken a hit with Monta Ellis in town and Carlos Delfino on a hot streak. He's averaged 22 minutes over the past three games, but also 16.7 points and 2.6 threes thanks to 67/73/100 shooting. It's the supporting stats that have suffered most (2 boards, 2 assists, 0 steals) .. The available playing time just keeps piling up for Wilson Chandler. This time it's because of Rudy Fernandez's season-ending back injury .. Gustavo Ayon quickly moved back to the bench upon Jason Smith's return from his concussion injury. Deep-leaguers can hold on for two more games, however, thanks to Smith's suspension for his flagrant "foul" of Blake Griffin .. I'm fine with Mario Chalmers hitting waivers in typical standard leagues while his shot is so far off (6.8 points, 33% FG over his past 10 games). The supporting stats have been good (1.2 threes, 3.5 assists, 2 steals), so there is definitely some utility here, but the Heat also happen to be heading for the toughest playoff schedule by way of Basketball Monster's ease rankings.
