INDIAN WELLS, Calif. – Once they defeated the mighty Bryan brothers in the quarter-finals, Canadian Vasek Pospisil and American Jack Sock instantly became the favourites, on paper, to win the men's doubles at the BNP Paribas Open.

It wasn't as routine as they might have hoped for, but the Can-American pair got it done in the final Saturday, defeating Australian Open champions Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini 6-4, 5-7, [10-7] to win their third title together – their second biggest after the Wimbledon crown they unexpectedly won last summer.

"Another milestone, and really special. Our first team title probably can’t be beat but this is a Masters, it’s a huge event. Our first Masters title and hopefully we will have many more." Pospisil said.

They did a little joking around for the ATP cameras.

After that, they ran into the locker room, and right back out to a mini-van to hit the road for L.A., saying goodbye to family on the way.

They made it a more stressful airport ride than it should have been.

The Can-American pair was up a set and break, and with Fognini looking rather disinterested on the other side of the net – as only Fabio Fognini can – it appeared they wouldn't have to stress to make a 10:30 p.m. redeye to Miami, out of Los Angeles no less (at least a two-hour drive).

But they gave back the break. "We came out on fire, I came out firing and playing very well.  Hitting the ball big. And then my service game, was definitely my fault, played a very sloppy game with a couple of forehand errors and a double fault," Sock said.

Up 9-4 in the match tiebreaker, they watched the Italians inch back into it until a miracle volley by Pospisil at 9-7 led to winning that point and closing it out.

Here's what it looked like.
