Snowboarder Spencer O’Brien takes a shot at CBC commentary

Ten days after issuing a tear-filled apology to Canadians for her performance in the Olympic women's slope style snowboarding event, Spencer O'Brien is singing a different tune.

In a Twitter post Tuesday morning, O'Brien appeared to take aim at an unnamed Canadian announcer or announcers:

Van Valin is calling freestyle skiing events for NBC and in O'Brien's view is doing a great job. It's not clear who, if anyone in particular, O'Brien is criticizing.

It could be Jeff Bean, who is calling freestyle skiing for CBC or possibly even Craig McMorris, the snowboard analyst. But Bean is a former Olympic freestyle skier and McMorris comes from the competitive snowboarding world -- he was a contender for the Canadian team -- so it's hard to understand why O'Brien may think they lack knowledge. It's also possible she may have been referring to someone else.

It was a tough Olympics for O'Brien, who was expected to contend for a medal but fell way short in finishing 12th.

“I’m really disappointed and really sad that I let Canada down,” the 26-year-old Courtenay, B.C., native said after her event in a tear-filled interview on Feb. 8.
