Rocket Richard is back in Montreal and, boy, could the Habs ever use him on the power play

Maurice "Rocket" Richard returned to Montreal Thursday, as a was likeness of the Habs icon was unveiled at the Montreal Canadiens Hall of Fame.

Those legendary intense eyes don't translate anywhere close to the real thing. But perhaps the kid-friendly Canadiens didn't want to frighten little kids with all that blazing intensity.

The statue was designed and put together in Paris at the Musée Grevin. It will be the last thing visitors see when they tour the Hall of Fame at the Bell Centre.

As the Canadiens head to their final regular-season game and then to the playoffs, boy, could they use him.

Come to think of it, even the wax version couldn't do worse than the team's collective power play of late.

In their last seven games – including Thursday night's shutout loss to the Islanders – the Habs are 0-for-18 when they're a man to the good.

Needless to remind everyone that Richard, at the time of death in 2000, held the record with six overtime goals (Joe Sakic passed him in 2006).

He also co-holds the NHL record for five goals in one game. And he was part of a power play unit so devastating, the league was forced to change the rules and stop requiring teams to serve their full two-minute penalties if the opposition scored.

Richard scored 82 goals in 133 playoff games, including two seasons in double-digits when there were far fewer rounds than now - i.e., only two.
