Masai Ujiri has a new contract with the Toronto Raptors and one less title to worry about. The organization announced Friday they had agreed to a multi-year extension with Ujiri to stay on as president of basketball operations.

He is, however, no longer the general manager as Jeff Weltman has been promoted to GM and Bobby Webster to assistant GM, though Ujiri will continue to have final say on personnel decisions.

Both Weltman and Webster joined the Raptors' front office shortly after Ujiri took over ahead of the 2013-14 season. Weltman is a veteran NBA executive while Webster is known to be an expert on the CBA and the salary cap.

The extension for Ujiri comes as no surprise. The Raptors have had their best run of success on the court with him at helm, making the playoffs three straight years and reaching the Eastern Conference Finals this past season after winning 56 games. The launch of a local D-League affiliate in Raptors 905 and the construction of the BioSteel Centre, the team's new off-site practice facility, also took place under his watch.

The promotions for Weltman and Webster ensures they remain with the organization and makes it more difficult for other teams to be able to offer them similar positions to leave Toronto.

"I am grateful to the board and (MLSE chairman) Mr. (Larry) Tanenbaum for the opportunity to continue our progress to build the Raptors into one of the top franchises in the NBA," Ujiri said in a statement. "I'm also excited that Jeff and Bobby are being rewarded for their hard work and valuable contributions to our program.

"My family thanks the NBA, Raptors players and coaches, staff, Raptors fans, the city of Toronto and Canada for this opportunity. Toronto is home for us."

The Raptors have had a fairly quiet offseason following the best season in franchise history. They re-signed DeMar DeRozan to a five-year, $139 million contract and gave head coach Dwane Casey a new deal. Now Ujiri is locked in long-term and the goal is to continue to build on what's clearly been a winning formula so far since his arrival in Toronto three years ago.
