Milos Raonic falls to Andy Roddick in exhibition match in Toronto

The last time Milos Raonic faced off against Andy Roddick and Serena Williams took on Agnieszka Radwanska there was a little bit more on the line.

Williams and Radwanska were fighting for a Gland Slam title at Wimbledon this past summer and Raonic and Roddick were facing off for an ATP title at the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships in Memphis in 2011.

Williams defeated Radwanska in three sets to capture her fifth Wimbledon title and Roddick edged Raonic to clinch his 30th ATP title.

Both sets of players were up against each other again Friday at an exhibition event at the Air Canada in Toronto, playing for cheers from the just over 6,500 fans in the crowd and bragging rights rather than any kind of sought after championship. And this time around Radwanska was able to extract at least some form of revenge on her opponent defeating Williams 6-4, 6-4 while Roddick edged passed Raonic 6-4, 4-6, 10-7.

Raonic joked that he hopes Roddick doesn't turn his exhibition victory into a professional comeback and he says it's a lot of fun to let loose and end off a tennis season playing in an event like this where he can show a little bit more of his personality. Especially with someone like Roddick who is a veteran when it comes to entertaining the crowd.

"You see somebody like Andy [Roddick] who has done it for 12-plus years, he does it much better than I do," Raonic said. "It's something I'm proud to have him here for, to make this a bit more enjoyable than a posh-posh tennis match."

Some quirky musings from the night:

Commissioner Cohon has game: CFL commissioner Mark Cohon was one of a few celebrities to take to the court Friday — CBC personality George Stroumboulopoulos and former star of Entourage Adrian Grnier (known as Vince in the show) were also involved — and the 46-year-old showed that perhaps he spends a little bit of time on tennis court during the CFL off-season. Not only did the commish return one of Andy Roddick's powerful serves, but he also hit a forehand winner down the line against Serena Williams.

Roddick's antics: It didn't take Andy Roddick long to play the 'I'm retired and out of shape card.' After a point early on in the first set, the 30-year-old Roddick was huffing and puffing and jokingly called for a timeout much to the amusement of the crowd. Roddick also spent plenty of time between points chatting with courtside fans and on more then one occasion threw his racquet to the ground in mock anger.

Basketball Jones: Raonic, Roddick and Radwanska entered the Air Canada Centre dawning Toronto Raptors jerseys. Funny enough the combination of Raonic's jersey with tennis shorts sort of gave off a John Stockton vibe.

No love for the Argos: At one point Raonic got on the microphone and tried to get the Toronto crowd pumped for the Sunday's CFL East semifinal with a 'Go Argos' chant. The result you ask?...
