Jermain Defoe could leave Toronto FC, return to English Premier League
Jermain Defoe's time in Toronto could be coming to an end. On the same day Toronto FC fired head coach Ryan Nelsen, general manager Tim Bezbatchenko confirmed that the team had received an offer for the 31-year-old striker. Sportsnet and The Canadian Press are reporting that the club that has shown interest is Queens Park Rangers. QPR's manager, Harry Redknapp, was Defoe's boss at Tottenham and Portsmouth. The transfer window for the English Premier League closes Monday.

"We have received multiple offers for Jermain Defoe and we will make a decision on this in the next 24 hours," - Bezbatchenko #tfc

Defoe, who is currently sidelined with a groin injury, has scored 11 goals in 16 games for the Reds. He's played a significant role in getting Toronto into a playoff spot with two months left in the season. Much to his disappointment, he was left off England's World Cup squad this past summer and his move to Toronto may have played a factor in that decision.
His arrival was heralded as a big win for TFC and a promotional campaign followed proclaiming the move as a "bloody big deal."
