Impact continue to honour Marco Di Vaio ahead of his final game (VIDEO)

Marco Di Vaio's 20-year professional career will come to a close when the Montreal Impact host D.C. United on Saturday afternoon in their final game of the season.

Di Vaio, who announced that he was planning to retire in early October, arrived in Montreal during their first season in MLS in 2012 as the franchise's first designated playerHe played a vital role in the Impact's transition from the second divsion to MLS. including an MVP-calibre season in 2013 that led the team to the playoffs.

As a thank you for all Di Vaio has done over his three seasons in Montreal, the club prepared a special gift for the 38-year-old ahead of his final game. In the video above Canadiens defenceman P.K. Subban and former Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo are among those who signed a No. 9 Di Vaio jersey that was given to the retiring star.

Even though Di Vaio still has one game left to play, his post playing career plans are already in motion. Impact owner Joey Saputo is part of a group that recently purchased Italian club Bologna, which is where Di Vaio played before joining Montreal. It's expected that Di Vaio will return home to Italy and assume the role of assistant to the technical director with Bologna.
