Former NHLer Ray Whitney to caddie for Graham DeLaet in Rio
Ray Whitney's had a long NHL career that includes a Stanley Cup with the 2005-06 Carolina Hurricanes and four stints with Team Canada at the World Championships but he's never represented his country in the Olympics. According to Adam Stanley, that will soon change, sort of.
Graham DeLaet tells me former NHLer Ray Whitney will be his caddy in Rio. Whitney won the Stanley Cup in '06 (and has some caddy experience)

Yahoo Canada Sports reached out to Golf Canada and received the following statement from Director of Corporate Communications, Dan Pino:
"Ray Whitney has been put forward by Graham to caddie for him at the Olympic Games and Golf Canada supports Graham’s decision."
As per Stanley, DeLaet's regular caddie Julien Trudeau plans to start a family soon so he opted to skip Rio. That opened the door for Whitney, who often golfs with DeLaet and another former NHLer Mike Commodore.
While this union may seem strange, it isn't the first time a former NHLer has caddied for a pro golfer. Dan Quinn once did so for John Daly before he became a part-time caddie for Ernie Els.
Whitney can soon cross the Olympics off his bucket list. If DeLaet medals, maybe his caddie will get some hardware too.
