Carlos Delgado headlines Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame's 2015 class

Carlos Delgado, Matt Stairs, Corey Koskie, former Montreal Expos manager Felipe Alou, and sportswriter Bob Elliott were announced as the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame's class of 2015 on Wednesday.

Delgado was signed by the Blue Jays in 1988 by legendary scout Epy Guerrero and made his major league debut in 1993. He went on to play 1423 games in Toronto over 12 seasons and was named an All-Star in 2000 and 2003. The native of Aguadilla, Puerto Rico holds the franchise records for most of the important offensive categories, including home runs (336) and RBIs (1,058), and was added to the Level of Excellence that honours past greats in 2013.

Stairs and Koskie are two Canadians that had successful baseball careers and made many appearances for the national team.

Stairs, who's from Saint John, N.B., is second in home runs (265) and games played (1,895) by a Canadian behind Larry Walker and holds the major-league record for pinch-hit home runs with 23. He played 19 seasons in the majors and won a World Series ring with the Phillies in 2008. Koskie, born in Anola, Man., played nine seasons in the big leagues, seven of them with the Minnesota Twins, hitting .275 with hit 124 home runs before his career was cut short by concussions. Stairs spent time with both the Expos ('92, '93) and Blue Jays ('07, '08) while Koskie suited up for Toronto in 2005.

Alou was involved with the Expos for 27 of their 36 years in Montreal. Over parts of 10 seasons as the team's manager, he amassed a franchise-best 691 wins. He also had a distinguished 17-year career as a player that included a stop in Montreal in 1973 and has the distinction of being the first Dominican manager in the big leagues.

Elliott has been covering baseball in Canada since 1978 and founded the Canadian Baseball Network website. In 2012, he was honoured by the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Elliott has been with the Toronto Sun since 1987.

The induction ceremony will take place on June 13 in St. Marys, Ontario.
