Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista awarded 2014 Silver Slugger
Jose Bautista was among the select group players honoured by MLB with a Silver Slugger award on Thursday.
Coming off two straight seasons interrupted by injury, Bautista played 155 games in 2014 and by both traditional stats and advanced metrics was considered to be one of baseball's top offensive players this season. Bautista hit .286 (t-15th in AL)/.403 (2nd)/.524(t-6th), scored 101 runs (3rd), had 103 RBI (t-7th) and smashed 35 home runs (t-5th). His wRC+ was 159 (t-4th) and his wOBA .402 (t-4th).
Bautista also won the award in 2010 and 2011 and joins George Bell and Carlos Delgado as the only Blue Jays to receive the award three times.
