After a loss in Connecticut, it was on to Manhattan for Eugenie Bouchard for a Nike event with ... Nick Kyrgios

There was no rest for the runner-up after Canadian Genie Bouchard lost her first-round match at the Connecticut Open in rather quick and painful fashion Monday afternoon.

With a big Nike event scheduled for early evening in the Meatpacking District in lower Manhattan, Bouchard and fellow Nike player Madison Keys (and Keys' coach Lindsay Davenport) were among those who were helicoptered up from New Haven to make the date.

It's not as though Bouchard could beg off; every Nike tennis player on the planet was there – from Rafael Nadal, to Maria Sharapova, to Sharapova's ex Grigor Dimitrov, to Serena Williams, to John McEnroe in the umpire's chair for the fun doubles. Even Pete Sampras showed up for the "Steal the Show" event, which was somewhat of a coming-out party for the tennis wear the Nike stable will sport for the final Grand Slam of the season.

All of the Nike players (or whomever Tweets for them) got the memo to pump up the event on social media.

Of course, to make it even more fodder for the anti-Genie contingent (we'll call them the "Harmy," just for fun), they paired her up on the temporary court with this month's enfant terrible, Nick Kyrgios.

We'll take a wild guess and figure media access to Kyrgios was tightly controlled. It never rains, but it pours for Genie Bouchard and PR.

More photos from this event here, and at Nike's Twitter account. No doubt the placement for that group photo was well and seriously thought out, given the various current, former, warm and frosty relationships that exist there.
