MELBOURNE – There wasn't a lot of volleying during Genie Bouchard's practice session Monday, in cool conditions after some rainfall earlier in the day.

There wasn't a whole lot of serving, either, despite the fact that was the stroke that probably let her down the most in her round-of-16 win, and the stroke that will be put under the most pressure when she faces Maria Sharapova Tuesday afternoon (Monday night, not before 8:30 p.m., on TV back home).

There were a whole lot of hard-hit forehands and backhands. And Bouchard will hit her fair share of those, as well.

Here's what it looked like. The practice outfit, after a bit of a mish-mash over the first 10 days, was perfectly on point - if that's any kind of omen at all.
