Video: Adarius Bowman’s one-handed grab, one of his three TDs Friday, was key for Edmonton
The Edmonton Eskimos' 27-11 win over the Ottawa Redblacks Friday was quite lopsided, but it still provided plenty of individual highlights. Many of those came from Edmonton slotback Adarius Bowman, who had nine catches for 140 yards and three touchdowns. Here's the most spectacular of those scores, a one-handed grab at the start of the fourth quarter:
That's an amazing catch in tight coverage, and it came on a remarkable throw, too. Edmonton quarterback Mike Reilly threw that from about the Ottawa 37 and dropped it into a very tight window near the goal line, and Bowman came through with a great grab while managing to keep his feet in bounds and cross the goal line for the touchdown. That was a crucial catch, as the Eskimos were only up 11-8 at this point; this helped them really start to pull away. Bowman made eight other nice receptions Friday, though, and that's a small part of what he's done this year; heading into Saturday's games, he led the league with 21 receptions. He also had a CFL-high 284 yards, and his four receiving touchdowns were the best in the league too. So far, it's shaping up to be a very good year for Bowman.
Of course, this isn't exactly new territory for him. Bowman's in his seventh CFL season, following a college career at North Carolina and Oklahoma State, and he's in his fourth year with the Eskimos. He's long been known for making spectacular grabs, and his per-game numbers are very impressive. However, he's only passed 1,000 receiving yards in one season (2011), as he's had trouble staying healthy. When Bowman's fit, though, the rest of the CFL should beware; he's quite capable of making more grabs like the one he pulled off Friday.
