Three Stars: Adarius Bowman, Ryan Phillips and Jason Arakgi top Week Eighteen

Welcome to the next edition of the Three Stars, our regular look at each week's top performers on offence, defence and special teams. This time, we're rating the top showings from Week Eighteen's games.

First star/offensive player of the week: Adarius Bowman, slotback, Edmonton Eskimos: Bowman had his second-straight dominant game, following up last week's 11 catches for 198 yards and a TD (which earned him our second star slot) with 12 catches for 208 yards and a touchdown in Edmonton's 35-24 win over Saskatchewan Saturday. The Oklahoma State product is second in the CFL with 1,292 receiving yards on the season, and he's been a vital part of the Eskimos' attack all season long. He'll be crucial to their playoff hopes.

(Honourable mentions: Henry Burris, QB, Ottawa; Andrew Harris, RB, B.C.; Kevin Glenn, QB, Montreal.)

Second star/defensive player of the week: Ryan Phillips, defensive back, B.C. Lions: The 32-year-old Phillips is still a vital part of B.C.'s secondary, and he turned in a great showing in the Lions' 40-13 victory over Hamilton Friday, picking off Hamilton quarterback Jeff Mathews twice. The Eastern Washington alum is in his 11th CFL season, and is having one of his best years; the five interceptions he has so far are tied for the second-highest total in his career, and are the best total he's recorded since 2010.

(Honourable mentions: Brandyn Thompson, DB, Ottawa; John Bowman, DE, Montreal; J.C. Sherritt, LB, Edmonton.)

Third star/special teams player of the week: Jason Arakgi, linebacker/cover teams, B.C. Lions: Arakgi recorded a league-high four special teams tackles in Friday's win over the Ticats, and was a big part of containing explosive Hamilton returner Brandon Banks, who finished the night with just 82 yards on four kick returns and 50 yards on seven punt returns. The McMaster grad is in his eighth CFL season, all with B.C., and he has 17 special-teams tackles this year. He's been a solid piece on cover teams for the Lions.

(Honourable mentions: Sean Whyte, K, Edmonton; Bo Lokombo, LB/ST, B.C.; Richie Leone, P/K, B.C.)

Bonus star/Canadian player of the week: Andrew Harris, running back, B.C. Lions: Harris was crucial for the Lions Friday, particularly in sealing the victory. He picked up 119 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries, an impressive average of 7.4 yards per carry. The Vancouver Island Raiders product is leading the league with 987 rushing yards, and he's been critical to the offensive success the Lions have found. He'll be a key part of their push towards the playoffs.

(Honourable mentions: Brad Sinopoli, SB, Ottawa; Justin Capicciotti, DE, Ottawa; Craig Butler, DB, Hamilton.)
