Exclusive: CFL to unveil new adidas uniforms, clothing May 12 in Montreal

The CFL and adidas will unveil new uniforms and lifestyle clothing May 12 in Montreal.

There's been a lot of speculation about when the CFL and its teams will reveal the new adidas jerseys, with jersey rights switching from adidas-owned Reebok to adidas itself ahead of this coming season, and now we have a date and a place. 55-Yard Line has obtained what appears to be an early leak of a "save-the-date" for a CFL/adidas announcement in Montreal on May 12, and CFL director of communications Paulo Senra has confirmed the save-the-date is accurate and is for a launch of the new adidas partnership and their new CFL jersey and lifestyle clothing line. Here's the save-the-date:

So, there aren't a ton of details to work with, but we now know the date and time of the announcement, and we know that it will be about more than just the game uniforms. The CFL's already released some league-wide lifestyle clothing with new logos and slogans, but it sounds like more (and maybe more team-specific stuff in particular) is on the way. We also know the venue, and the choice of venue (the Time Supper Club has a large ballroom and is used for big events) and time (late in the evening) suggests this is going to be more than a typical press conference. It also sounds like the league's going to roll out stuff for all teams at one central event, rather than the team-by-team approach they took with the base jerseys in 2012 and with the "Signature Look" third jerseys in 2014. We'll be following this closely as we get closer to May 12.
