Edmonton Eskimos' fans rant about "sneaky combine pilots down in Saskatchewan"

While head coach Chris Jones' decision to leave the Edmonton Eskimos just over a week after winning the Grey Cup to become the head coach and general manager of the Saskatchewan Roughriders was fine with his boss, Eskimos' general manager Ed Hervey, it, and his subsequent poaching of most of their other coaches has gone over less well with many fans in Edmonton. Regina's CJME News Talk 980 reports Eskimos' fans have been calling in to 630 CHED in Edmonton with some hilarious criticisms:

“I mean jeeze, like keep your paws off Roughriders, go find your own guys,” said one man.

Another caller described the coaching switch as ‘classless’.

“These sneaky combine pilots down in Saskatchewan, you know, if it’s not a billboard in front of Commonwealth, they’re trying to steal our coach,” one man vented.

“It’s just ticking me off, these sultans of swath, they just get whatever they want. It’ll just make the victory next year all that more enjoyable.”

While "The Saskatchewan Sultans Of Swath" has a nice ring to it, "sneaky combine pilots" is the real winner here. It's hard to imagine how one can sneakily pilot a combine, but there it is. Perhaps this will spark another great rivalry, along the lines of how the Winnipeg-Saskatchewan Banjo Bowl was formed (after then-Bombers' kicker Troy Westwood called Rider fans "banjo-picking inbreds" in 2003). This isn't quite up there with when the Eskimos themselves called Rider fans "horrible human beings," but it's not bad. Everyone will be eagerly anticipating the first annual Sneaky Combine Pilot Bowl this coming season.
