Welcome to the new 55-Yard Line CFL super power rankings. Every Thursday we'll look back at the previous week and look ahead to the upcoming week, and rank the best teams, quarterbacks or anything else we see fit to rank.

In Week 2, the surprises kept on coming with two teams continuing their unlikely winning ways.

Team rankings:

1.

Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2-0; Previous: 3) - Stop the presses. The Bombers are 2-0 and take over the top spot in the rankings. Are they the best team in the CFL? Probably not. But the power rankings are about relative strength and the Bombers have looked the best through two weeks and had an impressive comeback win over Ottawa last week.

2.

Edmonton Eskimos (2-0; Previous: 4) - Like the Bombers, the other team that missed the playoffs in 2013, the Eskimos are off to a surprisingly great start. They almost got the top spot based on their opponents -- on paper -- being stronger, but on the field that hasn't proven to be the case. Rookie head coach Chris Jones, like Mike O'Shea, is 2-0.

3.

Calgary Stampeders (1-0; Previous: 2) - Seems unfair to drop them when they didn't play, but that's the reality of a league that as one team on a bye every week. They have a good test on the road against the Argos in Week 3, but running back Jon Cornish is questionable for the game.

4.

Toronto Argonauts (1-1; Previous: 7) - The Argos shoot up the rankings after laying a beating on the defending Grey Cup champs. Only 17,000 fans showed up for the home opener though. What will it take to energize CFL fans in Toronto?

5.

Saskatchewan Roughriders (1-1; Previous: 1) -  The honeymoon is over for the Riders. Ricky Ray and the Argos tore through the Saskatchewan defence -- then they went and traded All-Star DB Dwight Anderson to the Argos.

6.

Montreal Alouettes (1-1; Previous: 8) - What a difference a week makes. After barely being able to score in Week 1, the Alouettes efficiently beat down the Lions in Week 2. Troy Smith still wasn't great in the win, but the defence was.

7.

Ottawa Redblacks (0-1; Previous: 9) - Their CFL debut almost had a storybook finish before the Bombers rallied for a win, but the Redblacks showed lots of potential. It seems like a safe bet that the Redblacks will do better than the last Ottawa expansion team that went 4-14 in 2002.

8.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats (0-2; Previous: 6) - They were much better in Week 2 despite another loss. They have a bye in Week 3 before another road game in Calgary in Week 4, and they announced that the new Tim Hortons Field will not be ready in time for their home opener. So that means two games at tiny Ron Joyce Stadium at McMaster. It could be August 16 (Week 8) before they play a real home game. Will they already be out of it by then?

9.

B.C. Lions (0-2; Previous: 5) - Things are so bad in B.C. right now that they're complaining about the Alouettes "running up the score" ... in a two-possession game.

Quarterback rankings:

1. Ricky Ray, Argonauts (Previous: 4) - Classic Ray in Week 2. He threw for 407 yards and three touchdowns and completed 78 percent of his passes.

2. Mike Reilly, Eskimos (Previous: 5) - Threw for 253 yards and a touchdown in Week 2. Steady start.

3. Drew Willy, Blue Bombers (Previous: 1) - He drops a couple spots because of the brilliance of Ray, and for being good but not great in the Bombers' win. Still off to a great start.

4. Bo Levi Mitchell, Stampeders (Previous: 2) - Drops simply because he didn't play. Interesting Week 3 matchup against Argos' defence.

5. Darian Durant, Roughriders (Previous: 3) - Riders were bad in Week 2 but Durant was fine. Threw for 295 and two touchdowns, but also two picks.

6. Henry Burris, Redblacks (Previous: 9) - Great start for the future Hall of Famer in a tough loss. 241 and a two touchdowns, and he can still move -- he rushed twice for 20 yards.

Troy Smith is the only quarterback without a touchdown pass.

7.

Troy Smith, Alouettes (Previous: 8) - Still without a touchdown pass this season, but he was better in Week 2.

8. Zach Collaros, Tiger-Cats (Previous: 6) - Got knocked out of the game against the Eskimos early on a hit by Odell Willis. Gets bye week to heal more.

9. Kevin Glenn, Lions (Previous: 7) - Two more interceptions in Week 2, including a pick-six, and was sacked five times. Will John Beck take over in Week 3?

Coming up in Week 3:

Winnipeg at Montreal, Friday, 7 ET -- The Bombers take their perfect record into Montreal. It's a battle of the highest scoring offence (Winnipeg) againt the stingiest defence (Montreal). It's another tough test for Drew Willy against John Bowman and the Als' great pass rush. Pick: Bombers.

Ottawa at Edmonton, Friday, 10 ET -- The Redblacks look for their first win against the unbeaten Eskimos. Their defence was unable to hold on to a lead last week, while the Eskimos themselves rallied. If the Redblacks can get to Mike Reilly the way they did Willy last week they can win. Pick: Redblacks.

Calgary at Toronto, Saturday, 6:30 ET -- The Stamps are coming off a bye but may not have Jon Cornish back. The Argos are hurting as well with Andrew Durie going down with a broken clavicle. No home-field advantage in Toronto but Ricky Ray can do it almost by himself. Pick: Argonauts.

B.C. at Saskacthewan, Saturday, 9:30 ET -- Both teams are coming off a loss, but the Lions just looked lost. Regina is a tough place to play for a team that's 0-2 and growing increasingly frustrated. Pick: Roughriders.

Picks -- Last week: 2-2; Season: 2-2.

Bye: Hamilton -- An extra week for Zach Collaros to heal before hitting the road again. Interesting note on the 0-2 Ticats from the Hamilton Spectator: in the last 12 season, the Ticats have lost their first two games nine times.
