CFL commissioner Mark Cohon reaches out to @FakeMarkCohon, but Fauxmish isn't around
Throughout his tenure as CFL commissioner, Mark Cohon has consistently gone the extra mile in trying to reach out to fans, from appearances at tweetups to implementing a Fans' State Of The League event to starting the March With The Cup tradition to let fans get a chance to carry the Grey Cup to even appearing on Reddit to answer questions. Still, he may have one-upped himself this time, reaching out to his Twitter parody account and offering to meet. Here's what Cohon tweeted:
@FakeMarkCohon Are you coming to the #GreyCup. As this is my last GC are u stepping down as well? We have to meet face to face. #CFL

That's very self-aware of Cohon, and pretty funny. The league obviously doesn't approve of everything the Fauxmish tweets, but the account's generally pretty clever; this week alone, he's made some humourous remarks about the standoffish tendencies of Calgary and Edmonton head coaches John Hufnagel and Chris Jones, Montreal head coach Tom Higgins' sideline preoccupation with the play sheet and Stampeders' fans' tastes in food and beverages:
Hufnagel and Jones aren't that cold and standoffish... their wives say their anniversary 3-second hug each year are very intimate #CFL

Oh oh, Higgins put down the sudoku! Looks fired up too, he'll start clapping any minute now! #CFL #GCPlayoffs

Hyatt Regency Vancouver is offering a traditional 7-course Calgary meal... a 6-pack of Molson and a hotdog #Classy #102GC #CFL

So, that's clever of Cohon to give this a whirl. Sadly, it sounds like the Fauxmish will be unable to take him up on the offer:
@canadiancommish Unfortunately I can not make it this year due to work commitments. Please have a beer in my honour though

Still, even with this being Cohon's last Grey Cup, it may not be the end for the parody account. Whoever's behind it has mentioned the possibility of switching targets:
@talk2kimhuffman I don't think I'll quit, it'll just morph into a slightly different schtick... maybe Matt Dunigan's Pocket Square...
— Fake Mark Cohon (@FakeMarkCohon) November 23, 2014
Better watch out for that, Dunigan...
