Mike Tyson endorses Toronto mayor Rob Ford

Boxing legend and former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, "Iron" Mike Tyson, shares his thoughts on the Cotto-Martinez fight and analyzes their differing fighting styles. He also talks about the impact that Freddie Roach will have on Cotto's approach.

So, it's not quite up there with Dennis Rodman singing Happy Birthday to North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un, but this is still pretty strange. Former boxing heavyweight champion Mike Tyson met with embattled Toronto mayor Rob Ford on Tuesday, and then gave a glowing endorsement of Ford as "the best mayor in Toronto's history."

Being a boxer, movie and television star and boxing promoter is one thing, but we're not sure who would be impressed with Tyson's seemingly unqualified perspective on civic management. And only Rob Ford would roll out a convicted rapist to endorse him in order to gain public favor.

"We're cut from the same cloth," Ford said of he and "Kid Dynamite."

"There's no nonsense. I respect him"

There has, of course, been plenty of "nonsense" in the Ford administration. The mayor has been implicated in everything from illicit cronyism and misuse of city resources to drug use and public urination.

Tyson brushed those concerns off by saying, "We will make mistakes."

Ford is up for re-election in October. Do you think Tyson's endorsement will help North America's most "colorful" mayor keep his job?
