Watch: OHL goalie scores playoff goal, indulges in fly-by celebration
Goalie goals aren’t quite commonplace at any level of hockey, and celebrations this great rarely follow.
Peterborough Petes goaltender Dylan Wells scored from behind his own goal line into an empty net during the third period of an Ontario Hockey League playoff game on Thursday, sealing a 6-2 win and sweep of the Kingston Frontenacs.

After sending a shot the length of the ice into the middle of the empty cage, Wells celebrated in the crease with his teammates before taking off towards his team’s bench to partake in a post-goal celebration goalies almost never get to experience—the bench fly-by.
Aside from showing his Brodeur-esque wrist shot and an on-point celebration game, Wells has been on fire for the Petes between the pipes in the playoffs so far, going 8-0 with a 1.94 goals-against average and .944 save percentage as Peterborough has swept its way through the first two rounds of the OHL’s Eastern Conference.
Whether it’s Mississauga or Oshawa facing the Petes in the conference finals, it looks like they’ll have to game plan for Wells’ prowess at both ends of the rink.
