Smoke, odor reported on plane from Charlotte to Cleveland

Four American Airlines crew members on a Wednesday flight from Charlotte sought medical treatment after smelling something off in the cabin of the plane, officials confirmed.

First reported by TV stations in Cleveland, flight No. 1264 conducted a normal landing at Cleveland International Airport, but the odor and reported fumes prompted a review by maintenance staff.

An American Airlines spokesperson said Thursday 108 passengers and six crew members were on the flight. There were no injuries reported.

News 5 Cleveland cited airport officials there as saying the odor was caused by smoke. But it’s unclear what led to the smoke.

“The aircraft landed safely and without incident and taxied to the gate where customers deplaned normally. The safety of our customers and team members is always our top priority,” American said in a statement.
