LOS ANGELES – Shea Weber won his third straight NHL Hardest Shot competition with a blistering 102.8 mph attempt.

Weber beat out Winnipeg Jets rookie Patrik Laine, who registered 101.7 mph and 101.5 mph in his two impressive attempts.

For some reason, the NHL set up the event to have all eight players take two shots each and end things. Why we couldn’t get a final duel between Laine and Weber is a mystery.

While the Montreal Canadiens defenseman was victorious again, Weber did not come close to equaling his either of his previous two winning attempts, which registered at 108.5 mph in 2015 and 108.1 mph during last year’s NHL Skills Competition.

Other attempts:
Victor Hedman – miss/94.2 mph
Seth Jones – 96.3 mph/98.1 mph
Alex Ovechkin – miss/97.8 mph
Brent Burns – 96.1 mph/97.7 mph
Nathan MacKinnon – 92.3 mph/89.9 mph
Drew Doughty – 94.6 mph/92.7 mph
