Sharks fans can finally have Brent Burns’s toothless smile (Photos)
San Jose Sharks fans will be able to smile like all-star defenseman Brent Burns this weekend.
The team has officially received the toothless Burns grills for their long-scheduled Sunday promotion as they try to capitalize on one element of his signature look.
Last summer, the Sharks announced that on March 12 against the Dallas Stars they would give away the grills. At the time it was unclear how the grill would actually look once it arrived, though it was obvious it had a lot of potential.

The Sharks communications staff was gracious enough to send us photos of the grills and they are about as hilarious as expected.
The side of the box says “STRAIGHT FROM THE MOUTH OF THE BEAST!” which just adds to the fun of the whole promo. All fans in attendance will receive a grill so hopefully there will be some great photos from the stands at the SAP Center.
This isn’t the first time the Sharks have tried to capitalize on Burns and his evolution from clean-cut hockey player to toothless Wookiee.
Last season San Jose used a promotion to give fans a ‘Chia Burns,’ which allowed them to grow out the hair and beard to their liking.
Earlier in the year, the Sharks used this template to give away a ‘Chia Jumbo Joe Thornton’ in honor of longtime forward Joe Thornton and his massive beard.
Last season, Burns explained why he decides to go toothless all the time, rather than put in false teeth like some other players.

“You get that big retainer thing, you lose it, it breaks. You can’t eat or drink with it, anyway. I put it in and it’s harder to talk,” he told ESPN.com “It’s just more of a pain to have it around. The vanity part I don’t really care about, to be honest. It’s been at least three years since I wore it.”
