Rochester nips Marlies 2-1 in shootout to tie Toronto for first in AHL North

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Rochester Americans tied Toronto for first place in the American Hockey League's North Division with a 2-1 shootout win over the Marlies on Wednesday.

Both team have 30 points, although Toronto (14-9-2) has played three fewer games.

Johan Larsson and Dan Catenacci scored in the shootout for Rochester (13-11-4), with Catenacci's goal deciding the game in the seventh round.

Winger Carter Ashton, who had a power-play goal for the Marlies at 7:45 of the opening period, also connected in the shootout. The goal was his fifth of the season.

Centre Mike Zigomanis got the equalizer for the Americans with his ninth of the season at 9:52 of the third period.

Drew McIntyre made 28 saves for Toronto, while Matt Hackett stopped 19 shots for Rochester.
