Arizona Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson is out $2,000 Thursday after the NHL fined him for diving during a game last week against the Nashville Predators.

Ekman-Larsson, who was warned after an unpenalized dive during a game on Oct. 25, blocked a Kevin Fiala shot, and while trying to get by the Predators defenseman in pursuing the puck, believed he could fly.

Fiala was given an interference minor while Ekman-Larsson was not penalized on the play. Again.

Once again, here’s how much each diving citation costs an NHL player and his head coach.

Citation # /Player Fine(s) / Head Coach Fine(s)
1 Warning N/A
2 $2,000 N/A
3 $3,000 N/A
4 $4,000 N/A
5 $5,000 $2,000
6 $5,000 $3,000
7 $5,000 $4,000
8 $5,000 $5,000

Since the 2014-15 NHL season, when the league began cracking down on diving with fines, 23 players have now been docked pay for trying to draw calls. Luckily for Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett, his team is still two more embellishing citations away this season from his players costing him some cash.
